A PDF gets the invoice out. Gripd gets you paid.

This page makes a good invoice. Once it's sent, a PDF can't tell you anything. A free Gripd account picks up where the PDF stops.

What to put on an invoice in Nigeria

A clear invoice gets paid faster. Include: your business name and contact details, your customer's name, an invoice number, the invoice date and due date, a line for each product or service with quantity and price, the total, and exactly how to pay you.

If you're registered for VAT, add your TIN (Tax Identification Number) and show the VAT separately.

VAT on invoices in Nigeria

VAT in Nigeria is 7.5%. You only add it if your business is registered for VAT; many small businesses fall below the registration threshold and don't charge it. If you do charge VAT, show your TIN and the VAT amount on the invoice. Tax rules have been changing, so check the current position with the tax authority or an accountant.

Getting paid on time

Most customers here pay by transfer, so the single biggest thing that gets you paid faster is putting your account details right on the invoice.

Number your invoices in order (INV-0001, INV-0002) so you and your customers can always refer to the right one, and keep a copy of every invoice you send.

FAQ

Questions people ask

Is this invoice generator really free?

Yes. Make as many invoices as you like and download them as PDF or image files, with no sign-up. A small "Made free with Gripd" line sits at the bottom.

Do I need an account?

No. If you want to save your invoices, send them by link, see when they're paid and send reminders, you can do that in Gripd for free.

Do I have to add VAT?

VAT in Nigeria is 7.5%. You only add it if your business is registered for VAT; many small businesses fall below the registration threshold and don't charge it. If you do charge VAT, show your TIN and the VAT amount on the invoice. Tax rules have been changing, so check the current position with the tax authority or an accountant.

What's the difference between an invoice and a receipt?

An invoice asks to be paid: it says what's owed and how to pay. A receipt confirms you've been paid. Send the invoice first, then a receipt once the money arrives.
