What to put on a receipt in the US
Your business name, the date, a receipt number, what was bought (with quantities and prices), the total paid, how it was paid, and any reference number. If the payment was for an invoice, add the invoice number too.
Sales tax on receipts
If you collected sales tax, show the rate and the amount on the receipt. For untaxed services, a receipt without tax is normal.
