Get your alert key
Log in on this iPhone to get your key. It's what connects your shortcut to your Gripd account.
Add the Gripd shortcut
Open Shortcuts, tap + on the Shortcuts tab, and name it Gripd Bank Alert. Then add these actions in order:
- Text: paste your key from step 1 into it.
- Get Contents of URL, with this link:Tap the arrow to show more: set Method to POST. Under Headers, add Authorization with the value "Bearer " (with the space) followed by the Text variable. Under Request Body, choose JSON, add a text field called text and set it to Shortcut Input.
https://gripd.ng/api/alerts/catch - Get Dictionary Value: get the value for open_url in Contents of URL.
- If Dictionary Value has any value, then Open URLs with Dictionary Value.
You only build this once.
Choose your bank
In Shortcuts, open the Automation tab and tap +.
- Alerts from your bank app (iOS 27 or later): choose Notification and pick your bank app.
- Alerts by SMS (any iOS): choose Message and under Message Contains type a word every alert from your bank has, like "Bal". It keeps OTP codes out.
Using more than one bank? Do steps 3 and 4 for each one. Some banks and fintech apps don't send SMS alerts, so on iOS 26 or older they can't be caught yet.
Turn on the automation
Choose Run Immediately and tap Next. Tap New Blank Automation, add the Run Shortcut action and pick Gripd Bank Alert. Tap the arrow on it and set the input to the alert (it shows as Notification, or Shortcut Input for SMS). Tap Done.
When your bank sends a transaction alert, your iPhone now quietly passes it to Gripd.
That's it
When money comes in or goes out, you'll get:
Gripd

Tap it and choose the hustle. You stay in control: Gripd only logs the transaction when you choose to log it.
What Gripd gets from your alerts
Your shortcut sends the alert to Gripd. Gripd reads two things from it, the amount and whether money came in or went out, and throws the rest away straight away. The alert text is never saved, and names, account numbers and balances are never kept. More in our privacy policy.
Small note
You only need to set this up once. After that, your iPhone handles the rest.
No notification? Check the two boxes under "Before you start", and that a Focus or Do Not Disturb isn't hiding it. To stop, switch off the automation in Shortcuts, or turn off iPhone bank alerts in Gripd's Settings.
On Android? The Gripd app from the Play Store catches alerts by itself: open Settings, then Bank alerts.
